What is Model United Nations?
Model United Nations (MUN) is an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate students about different international current affairs, the international relations, diplomacy and the United Nations agenda. Students, by representing different countries, discuss various international problems and attempt to come up with a solution. Students experience heated debates and candid negotiation during the whole conference period. A resolution document should be come up towards the problem at the end of the last committee session.
MUN is an activity that is used to stimulate the mind and open students’ eyes to international issues and problems that are not commonly dealt in daily lives. It also encourages and improves students’ analytical and logical skills in the process.
By joining MUNs held in different countries, students can broaden their horizons by knowing people from different cultures, build up an international network and know a new culture by staying in the host city.
